Being one of the hottest names in the current EDM scene, Steve Aoki has enjoyed a lot of fame and fortune these past few years. Especially with his recent high-profiled collaborations with K-pop superstars BTS and One Direction member Louis Tomlinson.
However, aside from his trademark cake-throwing and music, one fun fact about him is that he was a varsity player badminton player in high school.
During his years in Newport High School in the early 90s, Aoki revealed to NextShark that he had a tough time figuring out which sport he excelled at.
“I’ve tried every sport, every traditional sport.” Aoki said. “I tried football, and that just didn’t work out for me.
I went to a hospital after the first match or something — none of these traditional sports worked out.” he said.
[Badminton] was the one sport that I actually won a few games at, but I wasn’t a star. I wouldn’t call myself a star. I was on the team.” he added.
